Finlandia Gardens of the Finnish Center Finlandia Gardens is a six acre community garden, begun in 2004 and has continually evolved through the years. It is a location for Master Gardeners and others to spend time teaching and learning about gardening in an expansive environment. Our garden website is www.finlandiagardens.org We are certified as an Urban Wildlife habitat by the National Wildlife Federation and as a Monarch Way Station. We have an extensive wetland, a greenhouse, and vegetable gardens. In addition, over sixty additional points of interest are featured including numerous perennial gardens, a wood shop, decks, a patio, wedding gardens and gathering areas with seating throughout the six acre landscape. We have won many awards for the beauty of our gardens as well as for our environmental activities. We collect 1000 gallons of water from the roof of our garage for garden use. We compost, have a recycling program, with minimal use of chemicals in our gardens. We collect and package our seeds to distribute to gardeners, plant exchanges, and visitors. We share excess plants as well to interested gardeners. Our wood shop is available for making bird houses, bird feeders and other garden projects as well as a repair facility. Our electric garden cart moves gardeners and garden materials around the property with ease. You are encouraged to come and visit us and see what we have to offer. We meet as a group each Monday morning, at 9 AM with amenities, but can accommodate you at times of your choice as well. We look forward to seeing you in the gardens.
